In a world bent on finger pointing here, there, and everywhere, the words of Brooke Ligertwood’s (video, lyrics) song remind me where I should point my finger first: Nineveh.
O Nineveh, a place of injustice and indifference, selfishness and the burning embers of pride.
Where is there rebellion instead of surrender?
Turn my eyes there.
Where is the Lord likely to strike evil with calamity and wrath?
Point my finger there.
And then plead for mercy, compassion, and forgiveness because the planks that build Nineveh may well be out there, but they are first and foremost lodged in here.
“Holy Spirit help me see
Where there is Nineveh in me”
Holy Spirit,
point out the logs in my own eyes
before my finger is tempted to uncurl toward others.
Before my mouth slaps labels everywhere else,
convict my own heart to heed the warning first,
Holy Spirit.
God have mercy.
Christ has mercy.
Turn Your face toward me.
Turn my face toward You.
“May Yahweh bless you and keep you;
Numbers 6:24-26
may Yahweh cause His face to shine upon you
and be gracious to you;
may Yahweh lift up His countenance toward you
and give you peace.”
Amen and Amen!! Come, Lord Jesus.come…. today if it be Your will💕
But until Your glorious return, please help me be more like Jesus each and every day,
All the glory and honor is YOURS Lord!!
Thank You for this day, and thank You for my sister, Nicole, Sarah
