When I can’t find the words to pray, I reach for either the Book of Psalms or The Lord’s Prayer. Tonight, it is Jesus’ prayer in the King James Version that helps form my request to the Mercy Seat.
Our Father
No war is a surprise to you. No stealth invasion is stealth, no plans are hidden or obscured, no single evil act is unrecorded.
who art in heaven
In your realm, you are called the Almighty El-Shaddai and Angel Armies engage in battle according to your commands. Nothing is dismissed as impossible in your heavens.
hallowed be thy name.
Because you are the only Light that shines in our darkness.
Because you are the only One who can resurrect that which appears dead.
Because only with you can anyone live and move and have being.
Thy kingdom come.
We know, Yahweh-Shalom, that no earthly kingdom or government will ever bring eternal and lasting peace, yet we call upon you to protect the elected government officials, the defense forces, and all the citizens in the country of Ukraine.
Thy will be done in earth, as it is in heaven.
Thy will, O Lord.
Thy timing, O Lord.
Thy way, O Lord.
Give us this day our daily bread.
Wonderful Counselor, give much wisdom and courage to leaders. Good Shepherd, give comfort, refuge, and the bread of life to those in danger. Jehovah-Shammah, be present and active in Ukraine, the land of my ancestors.
And forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors.
Turn our own hearts from evil.
Turn Putin’s heart from war.
And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil.
Confuse the strategies of those that seek only to steal, kill, and destroy.
Blind the eyes of the cruel.
Thwart the plans of the evil doers.
For thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, for ever. Amen.
Lord, come quickly tonight to Ukraine.
Lord, come quickly this day and save us sinners.
The seraphim in heaven cry “Holy, Holy, Holy”, but tonight on earth I cry “Maranatha, Marantha, Marantha.”
Amen.
